A Natural Solution:
The Case For “Additives”
Mother Nature herself provides the solution to
a host of stubborn, greasy plumbing and environmental
challenges. The process of introducing biological
“additives” is known as Bioaugmentation.
Plumbing and pumping professionals have long known
the difficulties to drainlines and treatment systems
caused by fats, oils and greases. Buildups of
these substances obstruct – and eventually
clog – drainage systems.
The Plumbing Tool Only Nature
Could Invent.
Advances in biotechnology have created a new “Plumbers
Best Friend.” Now a naturally occurring microorganism
can be introduced directly into plumbing and treatment
systems which actually feeds on these wastes and
eliminates them from the environment. The technology
is easy to use, inexpensive and safe.
The microbes were originally isolated from those
found eliminating contaminants in the environment.
These bacteria were discovered in their natural
setting, biologically degrading contaminated soil
and water. The strains of friendly, versatile microbes
are actually lyophilized (Freeze-Dried) cultures
which are then liquid-stabilized. There is no artificial
mutation or genetic engineering involved. This unique
process keeps the microbes in a state of suspended
animation. These live cultures then “wake
up” when introduced to the collection or treatment
environment. As the microbes feed on organic wastes,
the main byproducts are simple carbon dioxide and
water.
The Hungry Bacteria® get to work immediately
on degradation of nasty fats, oils and grease. Conventional
forms of waste-degrading bioproducts are made up
of dormant bacteria such as spores, or seeds. These
sporogenic strains require a perfect alignment of
environmental conditions such as temperature and
pH balance in order
to “germinate”. Even then, the germination
period can take days before such sporogenic microbes
begin to metabolize wastes.
Patented, State-Of-The-Art
Environmental Technology
This state-of-the-art product -- BioOne® --
is marketed exclusively to environmental
professionals for resale to commercial, residential
and contract customers. Exclusive private-label
licensing agreements are also available, allowing
a contractor to market
the product under its own company or trade name.
Unlike today’s modern chemicals and detergents,
BioOne® will not emulsify grease and oils. Its
microorganisms digest these organics, not “liquefy”
them. Fats and oils emulsified in a waste stream
will eventually need to be dealt with, or they will
reform from their suspended “liquid”
state and impede the drain or treatment system further
downstream.
The
simplest example of Bioaugmentation’s benefits
is demonstrated on an ordinary drain pipe (fig.
1). Most any drain system collects its share of
greasy wastes – from bacon grease washed down
the sink to other fats deposited in dishwashers
and disposals. Over time, these organics - known
as slime - gather and build up on the walls of a
pipe. More so… and faster…in a high
oils and grease
setting like a commercial kitchen or auto service
garage drain.“Slow” drains are generally
the first indication of buildup problems. Untreated,
these turn into clogged drains. Then comes the messy
part. Often, these clogs are cleared mechanically
by cabling, flushing and pumping. The clog is cleared
-- temporarily.Only to return over and over again.
As the same type of wastes are deposited again,
without treatment by biological additives, the same
buildup will occur. Now we can treat the source
of the clog itself…naturally, safely, effectively
and inexpensively. Instead of repeatedly treating
the symptoms.
A Versatile Appetite for Destruction…
Of Wastes
BioOne®
significantly reduces fats, oils & grease (FOG),
biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen
demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC) and petroleum
hydrocarbons. Corrosion control and odor control
benefits also result. BioOne® is a
concentrated liquid, easily dosed directly into
a waste stream or problem area. Ongoing maintenance
can be accomplished using a simple autodispensing
system for pumping calibrated amounts of product
at timed intervals. BioOne® is also introduced
directly into onsite treatment systems: septic systems,
leach fields, lift stations and holding tanks. These
applications include regular treatment in commercial
and institutional foodservice grease traps (fig.
2).
Routine
dosing of BioOne® will typically reduce the
mantle cap by half. This is the thick layer of grease
that rises to the top in a commercial Fig.2 - Before
Fig.2 - After Proof-Positive for Bioaugmentation
grease trap. For instance, over a ninety day treatment
cycle at a fast-food restaurant, this mantle cap
layer is reduced from a thickness of ten inches
to only five inches. The amounts of soluble (emulsified)
fats and oils contained in the liquid at the bottom
of the tank is also reduced, before discharge to
the onsite or municipal treatment system. This can
save potentially expensive surcharges based on quality-testing
of inbound effluent by treatment system operators.
Naturally, this technology eliminates the need
for -- and expense of – caustic and potentially
dangerous chemicals. Operational savings are perhaps
the greatest product benefit, preventing messy drainage
& treatment system clogs, costly downtime and
major repairs. If your customers deserve enhanced
product performance and environmentally friendly,
state-of-the-art technology, inform them about the
benefits of Bioaugmentation additives.

BioOne Frees Clogged Restaurant
Drainlines
A
restaurant’s clogged grease trap can cause
chronic headaches for its proprietors, customers,
neighboring businesses and even the plumbers called
to the rescue. When faced with recurring backups
at foodservice establishments, more and more
plumbing professionals now recommended bioaugmentation
treatment. Administered into the restaurant’s
drain system by an auto-dispensing unit, the additive
goes to work on the source of the problem: continuing
buildup of organic wastes like fats,
oil and grease.
The product’s all-natural microbes metabolize
and degrade these wastes quickly and efficiently.
BioOne® is easy to use, totally safe and environmentally
friendly. Restaurants routinely report cleared drain
lines within days of the initial additive dosing,
and no call-backs to eliminate subsequent clogs.
BioOne® Treatment Nurses
Sick Septic Systems Back to Health Septic systems
are another on-site treatment method which can have
routine function disrupted by disposal of unusal
wastes. Frequent disposal of unused or outdated
medicines and drugs at nursing facilities have been
suspected by local health departments as a contributing
cause in disrupting the system’s natural biological
function. After pumping one such improperly functioning
septic hold, the service professionals called to
the scene
advised treatment with 3 gallons of BioOne®
administered directly into the tank. Within a month,
the health department reported, their inspection
revealed B.O.D. levels back within accepted standards.
Once again, no call-backs have been necessary since
